Flaherty Trustee Peggy Parsons presented a selection of works from the 2007 Flaherty Seminar, which included: Santiago, by João Moreira Salles, Borom Sarret, by Ousmane Sembene, and Surviving Sabu, by Ian Iqbal Rashid.

COMMUNITY SCREENINGS, HAMILTON, NY The Flaherty held screenings concurrent with the Seminar at the Hamilton Theater in Hamilton, NY, which were free and open to the public. Mary Kerr introduced the filmmakers, who participated in the 2008 Flaherty Seminar through the Flaherty’s fellowship program.June 27 – July 7, 2008THE FLAHERTY AT MOMA: THE FILMS OF BAHMAN GHOBADI , NEW YORK, NYThe Museum of Modern Art presented a mid-career film retrospective of the distinguished Kurdish-Iranian filmmaker, Bahman Ghobadi. A live webcam discussion with Ghobadi followed the Saturday, June 28 screening .September 5-11, 2008VIII FLAHERTIANA DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL, PERM, RUSSIAThe Flaherty was invited to the Flahertiana International Documentary Film Festival to present three programs: Nanook of the North, Louisana Story, andCalavera Highway. The Festival was created to showcase films which, like Robert Flaherty’s Nanook of the North, portray the human character’s real life on the screen and structure the film according to the laws of dramaturgy.
